'STROKE_MY_EGO_RE.MIXED' is an experimental and self-referential project on my podcast, a coming of age, but irl, that embarks through my fluid curation of fleeting yet thought-provoking interludes. With ebbs and flows, this ambitious episode reappropriates a podcast into the realms of sound art and design, serving as an ode to self-realization and personal growth in community with others. Through a multitude of visual and material exploration, I crafted a dynamic rollout to carry out the sonic boldness of the project via different mediums and platforms.

Inspired by the D-I-Y techniques of Blackqueer DJs, I switch up listening grooves by slowing elements down, quickly moving on, and allowing messages to linger. With production elements of dance, techno, ambient and noise music, R&B, southern hip hop, and afro-rhythms, I make a diasporic soundscape that points to the multiplicity of Blackqueerness by also rendering elements inaudible, glitchy, and distorted. From silly banter to deep anecdotes, every single sonic element, including the voicemails sprinkled throughout, has an intentional placement.Selected Flyers
CD Release
Art Direction + Design
A limited edition of Gold CDs of the project was released to create a physical archive of a podcast, a digital medium since birth in the streaming era. Slowing down the pace of releasing podcast episodes by focusing on one as a project allows for 'STROKE_MY_EGO_RE.MIXED' to be an abstraction of an album and an album rollout. The CD, made to last up to 300 years, features an additional 12 minutes of exclusive audio, with all profits going towards For The Gworls' Rent and Gender-Affirming Surgery Fund for Black Trans Folks.
The well-designed CD jewel case features a booklet of photographs from the cover shoot, a special dedication section, and a new colorway of Osadologo stickers, which last dropped in 2021. This collectible product draws an even closer connection to his supporters by providing an extended peak into my elusive development.

The video campaign for the CD release showcased how people could engage with the CD case, booklet, and disk in contemporary times. Car rides, night walks, and bedroom conversations, alone and with loved ones, all serve as environments and social settings to play this project.

To treat the audiovisual form of STROKE_MY_EGO_RE.MIXED as a present yet nostalgic remembrance of my ever-growing process of becoming, this visual for the cover shoot occurs in the corner of a bedroom with Blackqueer folks having a casual series of inaudible conversations. The low resolution and coloring of the visuals craft a memory reminiscent of the D-I-Y styles in early-age Nollywood handycam films with moments of tender closeness and Blackqueer community in interior spaces.
The visual accompaniment to the podcast project premiered at the Good Mother Studio & ArtX Juried Group Exhibition and was digitally released in part a Something Curated featured article. Clips from this video and stills from the shoot also are used as promotional materials on social media and in press photos.

An Immersive Listening Experience
I transformed the modular concert space at Stanford University's Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics to immerse an audience into a collective listening of 'STROKE_MY_EGO_RE.MIXED.' With the audio spatialization of 56 speakers, this surround sound experience was paired with video projections of 'STROKE_MY_EGO_RE.MIXED__S.URR.OUND' (2024) and 'STROKE_MY_EGO_RE.MIXED_06_08_2023_19.13.m4a' (2024). The following Q&A evoked a profound conversation around the interior, self-becoming, the social, the ephemeral, and the arts as a mode of expression.
