I produced a public live art presentation/performance at the Weeksville Heritage Center in Brooklyn, New York, as part of ‘Floating Freely: Queer Archives & Media from the Elders Project’, a daytime celebration of Black and queer history. Here, I creatively showcased aspects of my thesis, highlighting my research and artistic works illuminating Blackqueer creatives using Lo-Fi and D-I-Y audiovisual aesthetics within the Black diaspora. The dynamic event was interwoven with a memorable screening of my experimental documentary, a_blurred_fluxx_00.avi, inviting audiences to connect with and appreciate the depth of these innovative, creative expressions. To help my social media audience and attendees build anticipation for and develop an understanding of the event, I crafted an effective rollout and design that audiovisually and materially displays the ethos.

For the deck design, I chose to focus on composition and space as a simplistic tool to draw focus to text and image, as well as my voice filling the physical space with growing knowledge. Using lines as connecting points and the pixelated background draws visual inspiration from the end credits of a_blurred_fluxx_00.avi. An evolution of PRESENTation: an_evening_w/_osadolor.

I turned a research presentation and film screening into a live art performance of knowledge with creative interruptions, interactions with the audience, lighting and outfit changes, and playing with the screen display. The table arrangement I assembled for the a_blurr_00 is a collection of objects of discovery and reflections on my media influences, personal history, and interior spaces. They reflect my diasporic connections and creative explorations as tools of personal discovery, becoming an archive of my belongings.
